Marty

Dog of Cincy, Marty the Maltese, is just about one year old and is as cute as can be....just darling.

When he sees you he stands on his hind legs and puts his paws together and does the funniest little dance...I would liken it to Gangnam Style:)

There is one food that Marty absolutely loves and it's almost like a little trick when he hears the name of this certain food. When he hears the name of that food, he snaps his head to look at you, or he will come running from anywhere he is. His cute human mom showed me the trick.

"Ok Marty....Hamburger, Pizza, french fries, popsicles......ham!"  He about jumped out of his little body when he heard the word HAM he was so excited.  I asked her to do it like three more times because it was so cute.  I could watch this all day...so funny.

Marty's little face is so sweet and cute, but he is a little bundle of dynamite filled with love for his family and two boys. Never a dull moment with Marty!  It was fun dancing with you buddy:)

Charlie

Look at this photo of Charlie the Collie.  "He loves to be around kids...loves to be pet...he'll just lean into you." his human dad said.

The kids were swarming to Charlie...it was so precious.  And Charlie was loving every minute of it.

I was so thrilled when I saw a Collie coming around the corner as I haven't featured a Collie yet, and they are such beautiful and kind dogs.

Apparently it's a comedy show when they try to get him in the car though. The human mom said, "Charlie can't stand the car.  So I have to get his front paws and my husband  has to get his back  and we have to lift all 86 pounds of him into the car!" The human mom said it's pretty funny to see.

Charlie is 7 years old and looks just like Lassie.  I mean, a true doppelgänger. I met him at the new Summit Park in Blue Ash which is a great place to take dogs.  Lots of trails and a huge green space.  Check it out this summer! Thanks Charming Charlie!

Ozzy

Ozzy is a 4 year old English Bulldog.

Ozzy was kind of a chaser...meaning I went into a fast walk and then maybe even increased my speed slightly trying to catch up to him and his human.  My family gets a kick out of me when I spot a dog that I want to talk to. I'm like, "There's a Bulldog....bye!"

His human dad told me his name was Ozzy.   And me, I say, "Oh after Ozzy Osbourne?"  He replied, "No, my daughter named him...I don't think she even knows who Ozzy is." #justgotolder
Apparently the Bratz dolls have a pet bulldog named Ozzy and he's named after him.  That's actually cute. What a nice dad...I'm sure he would have rather told me it was after Ozzy Osbourne:)

So is he a good dog?

"He sheds a lot and he's a little stinky, but he is the greatest dog!"

Ozzy you are awesome.

Morgan

Morgan is a 5 year old beautiful and friendly Golden Retriever

He loves people food:) In fact, I think he's looking at me to see if I have any to give. No, you can't eat my camera:)

His human mom says,"He loves just about everything....Bananas, scrambled eggs, the milk at the bottom of the cereal bowl, even broccoli ." Which I find quite interesting.

But there's one food he doesn't like at all.

He has an aversion to Pretzels!..... Won't touch them hahaha

What do you know about yummy pretzels that we don't Morgan!?!  Pretzels are way better than broccoli:) You're a sweet and Funny boy.

Sonny

Happy Sunday from Sonny!

Sonny is a handsome 7 year old Bernese Mountain Dog from Montgomery.

He was recently trained as a Therapy Dog and is waiting for his certificate in the mail:)

He will be such a great comfort to patients at places like Cincinnati Children's and Ronald McDonald House.  Look at that smile!

"Sonny's name was originally Sundae....because he had all the colors of a chocolate sundae," the kids in his family said. But they just started calling him Sonny :)

He is such a cuddly, loyal, and gentle dog.  He is never far from his human mom.  Always right next to her.

The neighborhood he lives in just loves him.

One time when Sonny got out of his yard, the whole neighborhood was out with flashlights on a Friday night looking for him.  Texting, calling....and he was finally found.  Everyone loves Sonny!

Sophie

Meet Sophie the 5 1/2 year old rescued German Shepherd.

When I met Sophie I didn't realize she was missing an eye until she turned her head.

She's very proud and regal and just beautiful.

"She was running through some bushes and injured her eye so badly it had to be removed. But she gets along great, in fact, she still thinks she is a puppy!" her human dad said.

I could really relate to this because we have a dog that has almost no vision in one eye.  But she's learned to adjust.....she can catch a treat, she can fetch a ball...she just turns her head a little to get her target right:) Dogs are amazingly resilient animals.

Sophie you're a beauty, and I was so happy to photograph a German Shepherd.  They are such important and wonderful dogs. They help so much with the police to keep us safe.  So nice to meet you Soph!

Molly and Zoe

Brittany Spaniels are beautiful dogs...gorgeous red and white coats and freckles.  The Pippi Longstockings of the dog world:)

Molly and Zoe are two year old Brittany Spaniels and are BFF's.

"Molly is a rescue and Zoe is in love with her."

"Zoe wears the blue collar because she's a Tomboy."

I asked what makes her a Tomboy...?

"She's a wild one!" I love her unusual golden eyes.

Look how they posed for the photo....so cute.  Nice that they have each other.

Macy

There's something extra special about a Beagle puppy.  Those eyes!  And they're so naughty I love it.

Macy from Mason had one thing on her mind, she was going to chew through her leash and no one was stopping her.

Those little puppy teeth were hard at work.

"She's already escaped her crate at home as well...she somehow maneuvered the latches up and opened the door!" (see Macy laughing below) "Nice try" she says.

Oh Macy you are funny.

The family had been wanting a dog for awhile.

Macy's human dad works for Macy's downtown and brought this puppy home one night...hence the name. Very cute story.

Puppies are very hard to photograph because they literally can't settle down.  By the end of this photoshoot Macy was hanging from my sweater by those little puppy teeth.  Pretty funny.

Her human mom said she's either like this...wild, or passed out asleep in her lap...not much in between at this stage.

Thanks Macy you are a sweetie and made me smile!

Jax

This is Jax from the East Side....

Jax is a Cockapoo....

That's a Cocker Spaniel/Poodle mix.

I love Cocker Spaniels.  When I was growing up, everyone had them, and now I don't see them as much.

I wonder why?......hmmm

They are such sweet dogs, and Jax is a blondie beauty.

His human parents said:

"We call him the heart surgeon because whenever he gets a stuffed animal he chews a perfect circle out right where the heart would be and pulls out the squeaky."

Wow.....I wasn't expecting that....I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried!

Crispy

This is Crispy...I met him on the East Side in Swaim Field Park.

He's a black lab mix.

"When the grandkids come over he likes to lick all the food off their faces.  They give him so many treats...by the time they leave my house he has had so much food!" his human Mom laughed.

He's so friendly, how old is he?

"He's 14"

Wow, I would NEVER have guessed that!

"Well he goes on a run every day. That's how he stays young." :)

Dudley

This is Dudley....aka Dudders

Dudley is 12 and resides in Wyoming (Cincinnati suburb)

Dudley was rescued from the Tri-County Mall Pet Shop.

His now human dad stopped in the mall sometimes to eat lunch and always walked by this pet shop.

There had been an emergency shut down at the store and they were shipping dogs all over the country.

He called about this cute little lab who had followed him all over the store when he had stopped in once.

He was available still, so the dad went right away to get him.....and that is how this family ended up with the "sweetest dog in the world."

Dudley is housemate to Gunnar, who is Dog of Cincy's profile pic:)  I think Dudley is so sweet to  tolerate Gunnar haha.

Dudley is the most gentle and good soul.

Thank goodness fate brought this family and their dog together that day.

Ozone and Oscar

I met these Golden Retriever brothers at Weller Park.

They just turned 1 1/2.......babies.

Ozone is on the left, and Oscar is on the right.

Ok Oscar is a name I've heard before, but Ozone? I have to ask how he got the name.

Their human mama said, "Well when we first got them as puppies, the one that's named Oscar would come right away when we called him...but the other one would just keep wandering around, like he was out in space...out in the Ozone.  So my son said we should just call him that." haha I love it!

You could kind of tell that they were very different just from the few minutes I spent with them.  Ozone was well, preoccupied, or his mind was elsewhere....haha.

And can I tell you how hard it is to get two dogs photographed both looking at you at the same time? I love the challenge though.

If ever there were Golden Retrievers that truly had golden shiny fur....it's these guys...beautiful warm amber coats.

Thanks guys, enjoy your walk:)

Rupert and Luna

This is one of the only times I spotted dogs and almost tripped trying to get to them...pretty comical.

I absolutely love Greyhounds and hadn't featured any yet, and here were two beauties!

Meet Rupert, in front, and Luna behind him. They are 8 and 9.

They are both rescued and retired racers that live in Over the Rhine.

Their human mom said, "Rupert has corns:) that's why he has little Thera Paw boot on."  Awwww, but so cute, right? Get better soon Rupert.

She said, "Luna's not really up for a walk because I came home and she had eaten an entire baguette off the counter.  She wants to go home and sleep now I think." haha

I asked, "Are they good buddies, do they sleep together?"

She said, "They're so big, they like to sprawl, so they each have their own beds."

Ahhh what a great and relaxing life they have now.  Thanks for talking to me Rupert and Luna, and their mama:)

Sir Henry Wigglesworth

I met Henry in Washington Park.

He is a 6 month old rescue..what a baby face!

His very friendly human mom said, "Henry loves to chase his tail.  And it doesn't faze him when he finally catches it...he hangs on and keeps going in circles."

Aww...What a sweet puppy.

She thinks he is a Jack Russell mix and I do too...he is so photogenic and looks like the RCA dog....look at those gorgeous eyes..how could you ever say no?!

And apparently, Henry is a local celeb.

He has his own Instagram and stage name.

@SirHenryWigglesworth

Gia

I met Gia in Montgomery (Cincy Suburb)

She is a rescue and is just about 4 years old.

Best guess on her breed is Lab/Shepherd and I would venture to say Terrier too because of her ears.

She has the coolest little black spot on her tongue that you can see when she smiles:)

Gia is so funny. Her human mom says that she loves to watch TV.

I'm like, "What do you mean...watch TV?"

"She loves when any animals are on T.V. ....she has memorized the jingles to certain commercials with dogs in them and she will come running from wherever she is in the house when she hears them  to see the commercial."

Now that is just too darn cute.

"She also goes wild when she sees the Trix Bunny and the Leprechaun in the Lucky Charms spot."

Ahhhh! This is so funny.  I love this dog.

You're a sweetheart Gia!

Goldie

I met this beauty on the East Side...at Weller Park, which is like "the spot" for dog watching.

This Cincy dog was a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Golden Retriever..very beautiful!

"So what's her name?"

She laughed, "Goldie....aren't we geniuses?"  haha it was very funny.

I've met so many mixed breed dogs....and they're all rescues.  Where as I only used to hear about Labradoodles, now I'm meeting Cockapoos, Cavoodles, Puggles and even a Schnoodle.

And it's a great trend because people are rescuing...they don't need full breeds.

And thank goodness for all these homeless animals.

Well, this is the first Golden Shepherd I've ever seen, and she was adorable!

Ted

This is Ted.

He was dining al fresco at A Tavola in Over the Rhine with his peeps.

Ted is a mix of Shitzu and Terrier.  He is 2 years old but was adopted just 1 month ago.

His human mom got him from SAAP...(Stray Animal Adoption Program) in the Cincinnati area.

You can check out this great organization here:
                             S.A.A.P.

Sure, Ted looks downright serious here with that bow tie (so cute)...

But I saw him running later in the green space of Washington Park and he was so playful and full of joy..what a lucky dog!

I especially love the top picture because you can see how happy his humans are to have Ted in their lives.

And can we discuss the name Ted?  How awesome is it when people give their dogs human names.  Love it:)

Bella

This is Bella the "French Bull Pug" haha.

Her human dad described her as a French Bulldog with a custom paint job.

Bella is 7 years old and is a transplant from New York to the Cincinnati area.

She likes to hunt and she's not scared of any animals no matter what their size....not deer, not even horses!

I saw Bella at Weller Park and she was hanging out while her human siblings were playing on the swings.  She was happy as could be.

She sure is photogenic.....I love her amber eyes:)

Chewie

This is yesterday's dog Nikita's housemate, Chewie.

He is a terrier mix.
"He looks like Chewbacca from Star Wars when his hair isn't trimmed. That's how he got his name. He's a little Wookie," his human mom laughed.

"He loves everyone too."

So true....he sat right down in the grass with me....so sweet.  I just kept thinking that he looked like that Benji dog in the movies from when I was a little kid. I loved Benji:)

If you look real close into his beautiful eyes, you can see me snapping his picture.

Oh by the way, I found a pic of the original Benji
definitely a resemblance!

Thanks for the sweet moment Chewie, you made me smile:)

Nikita

This is Nikita

She is a mix of Pointer and Pit they think....

So, I was walking and they were walking down a different path and I thought to myself, "Please turn this way, please turn this way."  Because I don't actually want to chase people down, I want it to happen naturally....organic if you will. And they did.....yay

Her human mama spotted Nikita on Petfinder and fell in love with that face.  I fell in love with that face too.  Everything was so unique about her looks.....even her awesome nose.  And she had a cool black dot on her back...

"She's faster than a cheetah" her human mom said..."Look at her muscular legs."

She was already named Nikita when the mom adopted her , and I think that is a beautiful and fitting name.

I love rescued dogs....the majority of them have the sweetest natures...and they are so unique.

This next shot happened accidentally, but isn't it adorable?  Nice teeth Nikita:)

She was walking with her housemate Chewie and they are good buddies:)

Forrest

This is Forrest.  He was lazily enjoying the nice weather after his walk.  His dog walker was dining al fresco at Happy Belly in OTR.

"He's a wild boy!" she said.  "He's very playful."

Forrest is a Wheaton Terrier and is just about full grown.

He was such a beautiful boy and his coat was amazing.
I swear it felt just like a chenille blanket from Pottery Barn.  He would be a great cuddler.

Chanel and Jagger

I met Chanel and Jagger  in front of Bakersfield OTR....yum.

They were picking up their carry-out:)

Chanel the white mix...looks like bichon, schitzu, poodle is 10 years old

Jagger the little black one you can barely see, is 1 1/2 they think.

Jagger was recently adopted from Recycled Doggies, a great rescue organization in Cincinnati.

Recycled Doggies had found him in a box on the side of the road....and now he has a great home and sibling.

"Chanel is really teaching Jagger how to be social, how to cooperate...they're really starting to get along."

I love this.

I love their names too....the Fashionista and the Rocker.  Very cool!

Chanel and Jagger are from Hyde Park.

Eeezy

Ezekiel is a 2 year old American Cocker Spaniel

His birthday is May 15...so Happy Birthday!

Eeezy is his nickname.

"Oh I wish you would have caught him on Wednesday because that's when he gets groomed!"

Really?  I think he looks pretty stylish and sleek!

Eeezy was super friendly and a beautiful dog.

Cocker Spaniels were so popular to have as a pet when I was growing up, and now I barely ever see one it seems.  I was glad to get to photograph one. They are sweethearts.

Thanks Eeezy!

Roxie

I met Roxie the Pomeranian in Madeira.

She's 6 years old.

The kids named her after their favorite TV character:)

The little girl said, "If you say her name over and over she howls."

"Also, if you say Pickles! Pickles! Pickles! she turns in circles.. she loves pickles."

It's true I saw her do the trick:)

Roxie is a beauty and she looks like she is in a constant state of happiness....and she keeps her family entertained....

Lucky family and lucky dog.

Gibbs

Gibbs was walking in beautiful Pioneer Park...one of the most peaceful spots on Cincinnati's East Side...

It has a nice wooded path that runs along a creek..

Relaxing spot for walking dogs.

His very friendly human mom said,

"When we got him from the shelter, they had already named him Gibbs.

It's after the character on NCIS, the TV series. "

So far, Gibbs takes the prize for the shiniest dog I've ever seen.

And he was moving around so much I could barely snap a pic.

But, sometimes photos are most perfect when they're imperfect...I love how his ear is flying out...one of my  favorite shots so far.

Thanks Gibbs:)..carry on with your shiny self.

Emma

This is dainty Emma from Deer Park.

She is a Miniature Italian Greyhound...and everyone at the festival was stopping to talk to her.  She was just so darn tiny and beautiful.

She looked so graceful standing in the bustling crowd.

Very regal.

I guess that's why this breed was always favored by royalty.  Nice disposition and very elegant.

"What can you tell me about Emma?",  I asked her human parents.

They said "You should see how fast she is!  She chases rabbits, squirrels.... She even goes after deer. "

Now, I don't know what Emma would do if she actually caught up to a deer, but I'd love to see her in action....I bet it's amazing.

Nice to meet you Emma! I loved learning about this breed.

Stormy

Was on my way to Taft's Ale House in Over the Rhine when I met Stormy.  She's a 7 year old American Eskimo dog that lives in OTR.

It was a hot day and she was looking like she was over the heat already and it has just started here in Cincy!

I asked her human mom...."So how'd she get her name?"

"Oh, my ex-boyfriend named her after me"....

Hmmmm....Stormy.......(awkward silence)

"He said I always stormed into a place and that's what she does too.''

hilarious..

Stormy is a lover and very playful and sweet.

I am sure Stormy is one of the only beings in Cincinnati that wishes Winter could have stayed a little bit longer....because it was just like Alaska here for the last six months.

Don't worry...it will be back before we know it...in fact, it could possibly snow tomorrow...it's Cincinnati after all!

By the way, here is a shot of Taft's Ale House which is where I headed after our meeting.  It is such an elegant and hip space. It's an old church that they've redone, but kept many original elements such as murals, woodwork and window frames.....and the food/beer was exceptional. #ThisisOTR

Lewie

This is Lewie.
His family got him in *ichigan, but now he lives in O-H-I-O.  (the asterisk is a thing that Ohio State Buckeyes fans do...even though most of us vacation in the lovely *ichigan every summer).

His human mom said:

"He likes to carry a stick in his mouth when we go on walks.  It's like his pacifier."

Well, he is just a baby...he's only one year old!!!

And he's almost as tall as me.

Lewie is special to me because he is one half of the first dog/human duo I approached for this project.

I was so nervous...my voice was shaking when I said, "Hi...cute dog...can I take his picture...I have this blog blah blah blah...".

Thankfully his human mom was so kind and interested in what I was doing...she made the whole experience positive and joyful..and Lewie even posed for the photo!

I was seriously so nervous that I forgot to ask what part of town they were from, and exactly what kind of dog Lewie was...I am 99% sure he is a St. Bernard...but you never know.

Anyways...this one interaction with another animal loving person has resulted in countless interactions now...and so far everyone I have approached has been all in....and we both leave the conversation smiling...I feel like I'm spreading  good positive energy out into the world.

And the best part is that I'm learning little life lessons with each set that I meet.

Thanks so much Lewie!

Lala

I met Lala, the adorable Miniature Schnauzer, running in the green space of Washington Park....right in front of the historic and beautiful Music Hall. She's a city girl...lives downtown.

Lala was given to her human mom as a birthday gift from her boyfriend:)

Lala was a real comfort for her human mom as her  dad was battling Pancreatic cancer.

The name Lala has many significances:

First, it is short for Lavender the mom's favorite color....(my favorite too) p.s.

Second, it is the mom's best friend's nickname:)

And finally, purple is the color for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness.

No doubt, Lala brings joy to everyone she meets.

When I met her, she flipped right over onto her back and squealed...."that means she likes you".

This was only the second time they had been to the dog park and it wasn't going so well.

"She jumped into four people's laps.  She's more interested in the people than the dogs!"

And that's what I loved most about Lala...she has so much love she wants to give a little to everyone.

Cosmo

Happy Mother's Day!

This is sweet Cosmo from South Lebanon...

Look at how much Cosmo loves his Mom! And she loves him right back.

Cosmo spent his first 5 years in a puppy mill, but was rescued and then adopted by this wonderful family.  He is now 7.

"He wants to be held all the time...he needs that touch."

And they adore him.....it was so sweet... he looked just like a little baby on her shoulder...and he was so happy!

Thanks to all you superhero moms out there...who always have enough love for one more.
